No trips offered by Reading & Northern Railroad will be powered by Union Pacific “Big Boy” #4014.
As there are multiple “moving parts” to this endeavor, some of which are beyond the control of Reading & Northern Railroad, please be aware that posted schedules/itineraries will be adhered to as closely as possible, but Reading & Northern Railroad reserves the right to alter schedules and/or motive power as operational conditions dictate.
Tickets being sold by the Reading & Northern Railroad are for the four Reading & Northern semiquincentennial excursions, NOT the Union Pacific Museum trip.
Each Reading & Northern trip will feature opportunities for all guests to view Union Pacific “Big Boy” #4014 at least once.
Tickets are sold on a first-come/first-serve basis for all Reading & Northern trips. They may be purchased by phone at 610-562-2102 (8:30am - 5:00pm daily) or online at www.rbmnrr-passenger.com.
All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued. Unused tickets may be exchanged for any future Reading & Northern excursion without expiration. Existing unused tickets from past dates may, of course, be exchanged at face value toward tickets for any of these Reading & Northern-operated trips.
Standard Coach seating starts at $125.00 round trip for steam-powered trips (June 13 & 14; July 1), and $49.00 for the diesel-powered trip (July 2). Premium seating options are also available.
Guests will be able to detrain briefly at each excursion destination before the return trip’s departure.
Food and beverages may be purchased onboard. A menu of available items will be posted soon. Passengers may also bring their own food and/or non-alcoholic beverages.
Restrooms will be available at all stations and onboard all trains.
Souvenirs will be available for purchase before and after each excursion at the Black Diamond Company Store at Nesquehoning Regional Railroad Station. No souvenirs will be available for sale onboard.
Free parking FOR TICKETED PASSENGERS ONLY will be available at Nesquehoning Regional Railroad Station located at 1 Iron Horse Way, Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
Nesquehoning Regional Railroad Station is NOT currently equipped with a mechanical lift to assist passengers with mobility issues onto the train. All passengers must be able to navigate steps to board and detrain themselves.
A semiquincentennial event, within walking distance of the station, will be hosted by the Nesquehoning Historical Society on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
All visiting railfans (not riding the train) will be required to remain a minimum of twenty-five (25) feet from all railroad tracks. Please respect private property and obey all traffic laws. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SAFETY IS A MUST, 99% IS NOT ENOUGH!
